Well, I stopped back in randomly... reading Jark's blog, it becomes apparent that instead of getting better, things are actually getting worse for artists here. I didn't think the administration could possibly be that stupid, but there you have it.

I've 'deleted' all of my art from this site. While I believe the user agreement states that DA can keep your art whether or not you remove it from your site, I no longer want my work associated in any way with this pathetic excuse for an art community.

DA has taken and taken and taken from us... and they continue to ramp up what they're taking from everyone. Now not only are they introducing full-page ads to non-user browsing, they're actually putting ads on subscribers' gallery pages! Note the text under the subscription links: "No More Ads: Subscribe to deviantART Now!" If it wasn't clear that DA was lying to people before, it most certainly should be now.

I will probably stop in once in a while, since DA does not allow accounts to be deleted... for which reason, while I was deleting my art, I selected "No longer desired" or whatever as the reason instead of "Leaving DA," since no one is actually allowed to leave -- unless you want to get yourself banned. Which kind of hurt, since I was actually pretty proud of some of it -- I'd forgotten about most of it, and going back through it was rather nice... which made it all the more important that I get it off this corporate vampire of a website.

Oh well. My recommendation is that anyone who cares about their art or their integrity leave this site. DA does not care about either.
